Club History
PRESTWICK INDOOR BOWLING CLUB was founded in 1964 and has played a full and active part in Scottish Indoor Bowling ever since. During those forty years, our members have amassed numerous Scottish and British titles making us one of the most successful indoor clubs in Britain.
We have also had the privilege to have three World Indoor Champions grace our carpet. Sarah Gourlay won the title at Guernsey in 1992. Her son, David, also achieved the feat at Preston in 1996. Our third World Champion is Paul Foster who has won the title on three occasions
The club has also been fortunate to host some of the most important international events. Both the Gents and Ladies Home International Series have visited Prestwick on a number of occasions, the most recent of these being in 2005, when after an eight year gap, we hosted the Ladies Championships.
Our Scottish League team has enjoyed more success than any other club lifting the title on no less than 11 occasions with a Scottish Knockout Cup success in 20002 to add to the impressive tally.
Individual successes have been achieved by so many of our players through the years. Thanks to the victory of our Senior Fours team in 2005, Prestwick became the first club in Scotland to have registered every single Scottish National title.
The club itself continues to prosper with around 500 Gents members, 400 Ladies members, 100 Non Players and a strong Junior Section.
We hope that for many years to come PRESTWICK INDOOR BOWLING CLUB will continue to lead the way in Scottish Indoor Bowls.
